With the success of WAM 2016, we established substantial momentum as a result of the pent-up demand for an event like ours and are getting strong support from all corners of the community.  We anticipate an even stronger turnout for the 2017 event and are confident it will be a huge success.

Here are the various ways we are planning to promote it:

KXLU 88.9FM RADIO

Operated by Loyola Marymount University, the station broadcasts at 3,000 watts and covers a 30-mile radius from the Westchester campus of LMU. The station has committed to airing multiple Public Service Announcements prior to our event, doing a live session with one of the bands in our line-up beforehand (where they will be able to promote their appearance at WAM), and is considering doing a live remote broadcast from WAM

THE HOMETOWN NEWS

With a circulation of 16,000, the paper is delivered to single-family homes in Westchester, as well as to businesses and high-traffic areas in Westchester, Playa del Rey, Marina Del Rey & Playa Vista.  We are planning paid insertions in the three issues leading up to the WAM event and expect to partner with THN again as a media sponsor in 2017 for additional donated exposure.

LAX COASTAL CHAMBER 

WAM received 3 weeks of ad support on the Chamber’s website in 2016, which reaches up 3,500+ page views per month, and we are hoping for the Chamber to continue to support us in 2017.   

SOCIAL MEDIA AND EMAIL PROMOTION

Since we are partnering with LMU and OTIS, and bringing in up to 7 different musical acts, 24 vendors and 6 food trucks, each with its own constituency, we anticipate a broad reach for WAM through our partners’ social media along with the Emerson Avenue Community Garden’s.  The Garden currently has 800 Facebook followers and over 1100 people who receive our monthly newsletter. In addition, over 5000 people have volunteered at the Garden since it’s inception, most of whom are still interested in our activities. We intend to reach out to them through our own social media platforms, but also through posts on other platforms serving the community, such as the websites NextDoor and Silicon Beach LA, and the groups Westchester Mom’s, The Playa Westchester Hub, and the Westchester Neighbor’s Association.

SIGNAGE

We are planning on placing sponsorship signage along the fence bordering the garden adjacent to Emerson Avenue two weeks prior and one week following the event. Traffic counts at 80th Pl. and Emerson Avenue totaled 2425/day in 2012, and have only gotten higher since. In addition, we are planning 1-2 banners across Emerson two weeks prior to WAM to raise awareness and stimulate participation.
